Frequently asked questions

What should I bring to work?

In Tasmania we get all four seasons in one day so you will need a rain jacket, hat and sunscreen. It can be freezing cold and stinking hot, even in the middle of summer so always come prepared with everything!

Don’t forget to bring your lunch, snacks and a water bottle, the water on the farm is 100% safe to drink so you can top it up from our taps.

You must wear closed-in shoes (trainers, joggers or boots). Sandals, flip-flops or thongs are not suitable.

It’s not necessary but a lot of our workers listen to audiobooks, podcasts or music while they work so feel free to bring along your phone or iPod and headphones.

How do I get to and from the farm?

There is no public transport anywhere near the farm so you must have a car or access to a carpool that can get you to the farm reliably and on-time.

I’m not from around here, where can I stay?

Deloraine, the nearest town, has plenty of places to stay including a caravan park and backpackers. Don’t forget you’ll need to plan how you will get to the farm from Deloraine as it’s at least 10 km away.

How will I get paid?

You will get paid once a fortnight - pickers are paid on a piece rate basis, this means the harder you work the more you’ll get paid.

What paperwork do you need?

During your induction you will need to bring your bank and superannuation details, Passport (and Visa if applicable) or some other form of ID. Please note you cannot start work until all the paperwork is completed.
